@@Gohonzon Dai-Mandara
Putting offerings such as fruits and setting the fresh flowers on the altar are expressions of your gratitude to the eternal Buddha Shakamuni and Nichiren shonin.
At almost temple in Japan, water and food are offered in front of the statues
of the Buddha or the founder every day. Therefore, many believers that
have Butsudan in the house follow this custom. So, You may offer them.
But Mandara Honzon given by Nichiren shonin is for meditation of the Buddha
realm in your mind, the scene of the eagle peak where the eternal Buddha
Shakamuni is preaching. Therefore, if you offer the fresh flowers and burn
incense, it is enough as for setting at home, I think.
A@You may set the statue of Nichiren shonin or of the Buddha Shakamuni
if you would like to do it. But you should not obstruct Gohonzon by those
statues. This sample statue has a little problem. It doesn't matter on
the faith if you don't have those statues.
B@You may put memorial tablets of your ancestor and deceased family. It
doesn't matter on the faith if you don't have them. But you must not put
statues or pictures of those such as Hariti or Mahakala like Nichren shu
does.
